A weekend jaunt south of the border.  Mostly, it was spent taking in rather a lot of art and history, but also tropical fish and G&T's and that charming accent city-born Chicagoans have which makes them all sound like they belong on the radio.

&tc: Attended my first American baseball game, and bought a box of Cracker Jack, just for the hell of it.

This past weekend was spent way, way up in Georgian Bay, with three lovely people and their boisterousness; breakfasts with small stoves and good company are the best kinds of breakfasts; early morning café blanc and some quiet, quality time with Francis Scott Fitz; discoveries and decorative knick-knacks and documentation, oh, my!

I regrettably did not get a picture of my Adventure Boots in action, because packing up and avoiding mosquitoes while hiking through the woods to get back to the car is more important than art.  Right.

Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful, hard-working, wonderful mums the world over!  And especially to mine.  Because she really is an amazing lady, who deserves a lot less grief than the two of us sometimes give her.

Breakfast! In which I got back into the kitchen for two whole hours, and the house smelled wonderful.  There's just something I adore about making lots of food for people, especially early in the morning when everybody's still a little sleep-mussed and warm and toasty.  Making food for anybody at anytime is lovely, but breakfast is my favourite.  Accompanied by hand-made menus and good coffee, all in all, it was a very nice morning.

Saturday, May 11

I have really splurged on myself these past few weeks since coming home.  Haha, whoops.  I'm justifying it to myself as post-uni relief/recuperation, and the fact that I've got an income again.

Jill Barber sous le ciel de Toronto at the Winter Garden Theatre; A Danish film with which I'm currently having an affair, that's equal parts beauty, power, and intelligence; Florence by Tocca - Italian bergamot, crushed violets, with notes of pear, ivory gardenia and blonde wood; and two new teas: Raspberry Pineapple (white) & Berry Kiwi Colada (herbal).

Woke up bright and early this morning to mosey on down to the Vintage Clothing & Textile Spring Show at Wychwood Barn.  Bought a darling green dress, a silk Vera scarf, and a Deco-era hair comb.  It was lovely to wander around St. Clair Avenue - it's one of the few places I've come across nearer to downtown that I could see myself living in a few years, too! What a cute neighbourhood.

&c: Though I'm absolutely in love with it, the dress needs quite a bit of work.  A completely new belt because it's pretty well ruined, as well as needing to be taken in quite a bit.  It's labelled Small, but the waist must be at least 36 inches.  How does this happen?!
